Finally we got some snow as well. Even in Germany they had it earlier. Actually I expected this island to have much more of snow. But yeah. There is no climate change, right.

At one point I had to leave the village for a couple of days. The valley was getting very small and I had a very good reason. I got visited by my best friends from cologne. They literally brought the snow to Iceland. After they left a week later, the snow disappeared as well^^

First they tried to hitchhike after they found out, that they can’t rent a car without a credit card or 1200 Euro cash and I was worried not to see them at all. Because of the crazy snow. They got stuck in Selfoss, only one-two hours away from Reykjavik and asked me to collect them. So I did.

I felt to go on an adventure. Saturday I took the bus to Egilsstadir Airport and got a car via LungA school account. I found out that I don’t need a drivers license. I forgot mine at home (I hope… maybe I was sure not to drive in such conditions??) and the boy at the renting thing just said: „Oh that’s fine.“ I mean… I still had my international drivers license… so… I am not sure if I really could have driven without any license. But in Germany for sure the reaction would have been like: „Oh, that’s not good. We can’t let you drive without a license.“

So I got the car and „googlemapped“ where I have to go while having breakfast at a fast food restaurant. We said that we would meet in HÖFN. I only wondered that it was only 1h30min away. And I was happy. The snow didn’t stop. I was so scared and afraid because the car slipped a lot. So my average speed was around 15km/h.

It took me 4 hours for 68km. 1km can be so fucking long… When I finally arrived in Höfn, I didn’t feel right. There was only one house at the cost. That couldn’t be. As I know that Höfn should have a busstop or something at least or a hostel. The address Udo sent me, was 3 hours away from my Höfn as well.

I asked google again and found out that there are 4-5 different Höfn. (Later our icelandic students told me that this word means „harbour“) Fuck it. I just drove in the opposite direction I wanted to. I was north from Seydisfjördur, not in Höfn in the south. Damn you modern-clueless-hopeless-trusting-google human being.

So I had to stay the night in a guesthouse in the village I passed before I reached the wrong Höfn. I really didn’t want to drive over this mountain again. And it was about to get dark and I totally had enough of driving for that day.

I had to spent 7500ISK for one night and food. I got sweet bread, skyr, milk, some fruits and cheese for dinner. I was really happy. It was warm, big, had a bath tub and a bed. And I was not alone. My TV (final project) was with me.

The next day I wanted to stay in Bakkagerdi first, because it didn’t stop snowing and I was too scared to drive. I only had a „normal“ car. Not one of these monsters with 4 huge wheels and much more power in the engine. But when I asked Lasse, one of our LungA Dad’s, how the road conditions are and I showed him a pic of my vehicle. He said, that its fine and the roads are ok. So I trusted him and wow. I reached Egilsstadir in only two hours. That was unbelievable. So I just went further and tried to reach the HÖFN in the South.
I really didn’t believe anymore to see my friends and they neither. But yeah!!! I managed to got there in the evening. Even I always had to stop and take pics of that hilarious landscape with my TV in. Or I had a break at view points with beautiful names like „Njardvikurskridur“ or „Eyland“.

And the Environment changed all the time. I had everything. Snowstorm, snow with sun. Just storm. Just sun. Ice. No ice. Sometime I nearly felt like driving on a real street like in Germany (and of course I got caught by a flash light- that’s gonna be fucking expensive).
Monday we drove back. I could relax. Udo did it. On the way we collected Katla in Djùpivogur and stopped here and there. We arrived Seydisfjördur in the afternoon after 6 hours. That is quite good for 300 km. The last 100km we had crazy snow again. I was so happy to get back and be alive and had Udo and Line with me. And the car was really good. Even it wasn’t that monster truck.

I also fell a lot in this weather. Everything was slippery. But I didn’t get hurt bad. Just the normal pain. Yeah. I love this life!!!
